Chapter Fourteen
As soon as Sysco and Murda stepped out of the building, all eyes were on them. A few people whistled in their direction, and a few bystanders smacked their lips hatefully. Murda wanted to turn around and address the lip smackers but decided not to let her temper rear its ugly head and ruin the moment. âIâm excited about tonight,â she admitted.
âItâs just a little something, but I wanted to do right by you and welcome you properly to the squad.â He stopped walking.
âWhere is your car?â Murda scanned the parking lot.
âIâm not driving tonight.â Sysco finished his sentence just as the custom stretch black Denali pulled up in front of them. It was tricked out with neon blue lights beneath the car and triple black tint.
âI canât believe you rented this for just us.â Murda smiled from ear to ear. She was in awe that someone would go all out for her like this.
âI told you that I wanted to do right by you, ma.â Sys led Murda toward the limo and waited for the driver to open their door. Inside, Murda wanted to scream. Not only was the interior just as custom as the outside, but there was also a bottle of champagne on ice. Her emotions for Sysco were all over the place, yet she remained cool.
The limo hadnât even pulled off before Sysco poured both of them a glass of champagne. Murda was too young to drink, but that didnât stop her from taking a sip. Honestly, she didnât like the taste of whatever it was, but she continued to sip like it was going out of style.
âSlow down, ma.â With a smile, he reached for the glass.
âSorry, I just wanted to get a nice buzz before we get to the club.â Murda stopped drinking and wiped her mouth. She felt silly.
âHaving a buzz is cool and all, but you never want to be fucked up in public. Your eyes, ears, and mind need to be alert. Shit can pop off within minutes. You always have to be prepared! Always have your neck on the swivel.â Sysco took the time to school his young hitter. She was only a pup now, but one day she would be a full-grown pit bull. He wanted her to know the game in and out. He wanted her to be the best!
âYouâre right.â Murda set the champagne flute down and relaxed on the butter-soft seat. Knowing the night was going to be a long one, Sysco sat back and relaxed as well.
During the ride, he used the opportunity to get in her head and see where her mind was after she had been active in the game for a week now. Some people did it for the street credibility and respect. Most people did it for a few dollars to line their pockets. However, Murda wanted it all!
âI want to give my siblings and their kids something nobody ever gave me,â Murda spat.
âAnd whatâs that?â Sysco asked while sipping slowly from his cup.
